Choosing your Solar Panels

They may look pretty similar, but not all solar panels are created equal.

With so many brands of solar panels on the market it can be difficult to know you are making a good choice. The below points will help you consider the main factors when choosing your solar panels.

We’re proud to offer a huge range of solar panels from all the world’s leading manufactures. We’re completely unbiased, so all our recommendations are based purely on what we believe to be the best option for you.

  • 1
  • Does the manufacture have a strong international reputation?

A great place to start when comparing solar panels is to look at the company behind the manufacturing. All of the top solar panels come from internationally established companies. Google the brand of panel you are thinking of buying and check that they have offices all over the world and especially in Australia. If your panel does not have a decent website or strong international presence there is a good chance they are being imported from China and re-branded. Nothing wrong with products being imported from China as such but you do want to know the company will look after you if you did have an issue.

  • Warranty

You can’t beat local service backed by great product and manufacturer warranty. All products come with a 25-year performance and 10-year workmanship manufacturer warranty on the panels. A 5 to 10-year manufacturer warranty on inverters and a 10-year installation warranty. The great advantage of being local is that we are here to help whenever you need us. There is nothing more frustrating than spending hours on a phone with a big company in the hope of finding the right person. It’s much nicer to have a familiar face turn up to get things fixed straight away.

  • Value

Like with most things in life you get what you pay for. Just by using different brands of panels you can vary the price of a system by as much as $2000. you certainly don’t want to buying the cheapest or most expensive panels; it often comes down to finding a good balance on price and quality. When comparing quotes make sure you are comparing like for like products from the same manufacturer this will give you a clear picture of the price difference between companies.

  • Efficiency

Some panels are more efficient than others, so they’ll produce more power for a smaller surface area. When comparing solar panels ensure your chosen panel has a plus power tolerance. For example a 250W panel with +/-5% power tolerance means the manufactures guarantees the panel will be 5% less or 5% more than 250W’s this could mean the 250W could actually only be 237.5W. All good panels have + tolerances which means the panel will be at least 250W but could be as much as 262.5W.

  • Aesthetics

If the way the panels look on your roof is a concern, an all-black panel may be the best solution. Careful choice of panel layout will help make the panels blend in with your building design.

We're not tied to any manufacturer which means we can recommend the best solar panels and inverters for every customer.
